4. PLATFORM-SPECIFIC NOTES
4.1 Web Platform
The HNN web platform aims to conform fully to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where third-party embedded content (such as video players from upstream providers) may not meet this standard, we work with our partners to surface accessibility features where available and to provide alternative access where possible.
4.2 iOS and Android Applications
The HNN mobile applications follow Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material Design accessibility guidelines, including VoiceOver and TalkBack compatibility, Dynamic Type support, and respect for system accessibility preferences.
4.3 Connected TV Applications (Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV)
Connected TV applications operate within the constraints of each platform’s accessibility framework. We support platform-native accessibility features including:
Roku Audio Guide screen reader
Apple TV VoiceOver
Apple TV closed captions and audio descriptions
Fire TV VoiceView
Platform-level zoom and high-contrast features
Where a specific platform’s accessibility framework imposes limitations, those limitations apply to the HNN application on that platform.
5. CHANNEL OWNER CONTENT
5.1 Channel Owner Responsibility for Content Accessibility
Content on the HNN Platform is created and published by independent Channel Owners. Channel Owners are responsible for the accessibility of their own content, including the provision of:
Closed captions or subtitles for video content
Transcripts for audio and video content
Audio descriptions for video content where visual information is essential to comprehension
Alternative text for graphics and images they include in their content
5.2 HNN's Role
HNN provides accessible infrastructure and player controls, surfaces captions and other accessibility features when the Channel Owner has supplied them, and encourages Channel Owners to make their content accessible. HNN does not require, audit, or guarantee Channel Owner content accessibility.
5.3 Reporting Channel Owner Content Accessibility Issues
If you encounter accessibility issues with specific Channel Owner content, please report them to accessibility@hnn.media. We will forward your report to the applicable Channel Owner and follow up where appropriate.
6. KNOWN LIMITATIONS
Despite our efforts to ensure accessibility, the HNN Platform currently has the following known limitations. We are actively working to address them.
6.1 Channel Owner Video Accessibility
Closed captions, audio descriptions, and transcripts depend on the Channel Owner providing them. Not all content currently includes these accessibility features. We are working with Channel Owners to encourage broader availability.
6.2 Third-Party Embedded Content
Some pages may contain embedded content from third-party services (such as social media embeds or third-party video players). The accessibility of these embedded components is controlled by the third-party provider and may not meet HNN’s accessibility standards.
6.3 Connected TV Platform Constraints
Accessibility features available on connected TV applications are constrained by each platform’s technical framework. Some accessibility features available in the web and mobile experiences may not be available in connected TV applications.
6.4 Beta and New Features
Newly released features may not yet have reached full accessibility conformance at the time of launch. We aim to remediate any accessibility gaps in newly released features within a reasonable timeframe.
7. ONGOING IMPROVEMENT
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. HNN’s ongoing accessibility work includes:
Periodic accessibility audits of the HNN Platform conducted internally and by third-party accessibility specialists
Integration of accessibility checks into our design, development, and quality assurance processes
Accessibility training for our team and our agency partners
Engagement with accessibility advocates and the disability community
